Seventy Hyal vs. Profhilo

As you delve into the realm of skin boosters, the myriad of available brands might initially overwhelm you. Among the standout contenders are Seventy Hyal 2000 and Profhilo, celebrated for their remarkable skin-restoring effects. Both treatments are available at Coral Aesthetics and are client favourites - but how do these skin boosters differ, and which one aligns best with your skin goals?

What are Skin Boosters?

Skin boosters are advanced cosmetic treatments designed to rejuvenate and enhance the skin's overall quality. These minimally invasive procedures involve the injection of hydrating substances, such as hyaluronic acid (HA), into the deeper layers of the skin. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body that attracts and retains moisture, contributing to skin suppleness and firmness.

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a key component in many skincare products and dermal fillers, and it comes in various forms, including high molecular weight (HMW) and low molecular weight (LMW). Each form plays distinct roles in the skin due to their differing properties.

The primary goal of skin boosters is to address concerns related to skin hydration, elasticity, and overall texture. As we age, our skin tends to lose moisture and collagen, leading to the development of fine lines, wrinkles, and a dull complexion. Skin boosters work by replenishing lost hydration and stimulating the production of collagen and elastin, essential proteins that contribute to skin structure.

What sets skin boosters apart is their ability to provide long-lasting hydration from within the skin, resulting in a natural glow. The treatment is versatile, suitable for various skin types and concerns, making it a popular choice for individuals seeking a non-surgical solution to enhance their skin's vitality. Skin boosters offer a subtle yet noticeable improvement in skin texture, firmness, and overall luminosity, promoting a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance.

Understanding Seventy Hyal 2000

Functioning as a bio-stimulator, this skin booster stimulates the production of elastin and collagen while delivering profound hydration to the skin.

Primarily composed of high molecular weight (>2000kDa) hyaluronic acid, Seventy Hyal replenishes lost moisture quickly and is one of the highest concentrations of high molecular weigh formulations available on the market. As the body gradually loses HA with age, the ingredients in Seventy Hyal work to restore moisture, enhance skin texture, and impart a youthful, radiant complexion.

2-3 sessions are recommended and results will last you between 6-12 months.

Insights into Profhilo

Also crafted with HA, Profhilo excels as a skin remodeller, particularly effective in rejuvenating skin with diminished volume and elasticity. Therefore, it yields optimal results for individuals aged 30 and above.

Similar to Seventy Hyal 2000, Profhilo triggers the production of collagen and elastin, enhancing skin tone, hydration, and diminishing the appearance of wrinkles. What sets it apart, is its unique formulation of both high (1100-1400kDa) and low (80-100kDa) molecular weight HA. HA with different molecular weights will have different roles within the skin. Whilst the weight of the HA molecule is lower in Profhilo than Seventy Hyal, each syringe of Profhilo has double the concentrated amount of HA - 64mg/2ml in comparison to 30mg/2ml.

2 sessions are required initially, with repeat treatments advised around 6 months. People notice that their skin is smooth, firm and has fewer lines at around the 4 week mark.

What is the difference between high and low molecular weight HA?

High Molecular Weight Hyaluronic Acid (HMW-HA):

  • Hydration and Moisture Retention: HMW-HA has a larger molecular size, making it effective at creating a film on the skin's surface. This film helps prevent water loss by forming a barrier that retains moisture, contributing to skin hydration.

  • Skin Elasticity: HMW-HA helps maintain the skin's elasticity by binding with water molecules and creating a plumping effect. This can result in smoother, firmer skin. Low Molecular Weight Hyaluronic Acid (LMW-HA):

  • Penetration and Bioavailability: LMW-HA has smaller molecules, allowing it to penetrate the skin more easily. This enhances its bioavailability, meaning it can be absorbed more readily by the skin.

  • Collagen Synthesis and Repair: LMW-HA is believed to stimulate collagen synthesis and promote tissue repair. By reaching deeper layers of the skin, it may contribute to the structural integrity of the skin.

Should I choose Seventy Hyal or Profhilo?

Which of these treatments to choose depends on your skin goal. As Seventy Hyal mostly contains high molecular weigh HA, it is great for immediate hydration and giving the skin a refreshed appearance and feel. I tend to recommend this to clients with fewer skin concerns looking for a little boost. The great thing about Seventy Hyal is that, unlike Profhilo, it can be used under the eyes as an alternative to tear trough filler or even in the lips to add hydration as opposed to volume.

Profhilo tends to be the treatment of choice for mature skin that has signs of ageing. The high concentration of the collagen stimulating low molecular weight HA makes it great for firming the skin, deeply hydrating and smoothing fine lines and wrinkles. Whilst this product is too powerful to use under the eye, on the forehead or in the lips - it works wonders on the hands, neck and all over the body!

Choosing which treatment to have will be discussed in detail during your skin assessment and consultation, allowing you to ask questions with your skin professional. Nurse Coral will be happy to guide you to make treatment choices that fit within your lifestyle based on her knowledge and expertise of using this products over the last several years.

Considering Risks, Downtime and Aftercare

Whilst both Seventy Hyal 2000 and Profhilo offer impressive benefits, it's essential to consider potential risks associated with these treatments. Individual reactions may vary, and factors such as bruising, swelling, or redness at the injection site could occur. Moreover, downtime, or the period of recovery, should be taken into account. Typically, patients may experience mild swelling or bruising, and it's advisable to plan for this accordingly. Nurse Coral will advise you on the potential risks during your medical consultation.

Aftercare plays a pivotal role in maximising the benefits of these skin boosters. Adequate hydration, gentle skincare, and avoiding sun exposure are key considerations post-treatment. It's advisable to follow any specific aftercare instructions provided by your practitioner for optimal results.

In conclusion, both Seventy Hyal 2000 and Profhilo stand as formidable choices in the world of skin boosters. Your decision should be guided by your specific skin concerns, age, and treatment goals.
