Why choose Cryotherapy?
Cryotherapy is used to remove skin lesions such as moles, skin tags, cherry angiomas, warts and verrucae. Previously, these skin conditions could be removed under the NHS by a GP, however changes in practice now deem the removal of these to be cosmetic rather than medical. Therefore if you would like to remove a non-cancerous skin lesion, you will need to seek and pay for a private service. It is unlikely that private health insurance will cover the cost of skin tag removal in the UK. Many people have resorted to Harley Street for surgical removal of skin lesions which can be costly; cryotherapy offers an affordable alternative.
How does cryotherapy work?

Curious about how cryotherapy can effectively bid farewell to skin lesions? At Coral Aesthetics we use a device called CryoPen, which delivers precise streams of cold liquid nitrogen to the targeted area. The frozen cells undergo a process called apoptosis during thawing, facilitating the natural removal of the skin lesion. This means that the unwanted cells are safely eliminated. The precision of cryotherapy ensures that only the affected cells are targeted, leaving healthy tissue untouched.
Which areas can be treated?

Skin lesions can be safely removed from the face and body with Cryotherapy. These include but are not limited to:
-
Skin tags
-
Milia
-
Sebaceous keratosis
-
Xanthelasma
-
Cherry angioma
-
Moles (following a dermatologist review)
-
Pigmentation (sun spots, age spots, liver spots)
-
Warts and verrucae
Is Cryotherapy safe?

Cryotherapy is a safe and effective treatment when carried out by an experienced professional. At Coral Aesthetics, our Nurse has carried out hundreds of cryotherapy treatments on children and adults. Due to the precise nature of CryoPen, side effects are minimal. After treatment, some tenderness, redness and swelling is to be expected. The area must be kept clean and dry to reduce the risk of infection and promote healing following skin tag or lesion removal. After removal, the skin may appear pink or lighter in tone as it is new, fresh skin but will return to your skin colour over time.
Occasionally, hypopigmentation or colour changes to the skin can occur along with localised loss of sensation in the area. Whilst uncommon, these are usually temporary and resolve with time. Our qualified Nurse will discuss all possible side effects and aftercare with you at your appointment.
Does skin tag removal hurt?

Our treatment with CyroPen is quick, effective and best of all pain free! No numbing is required. The process can take anywhere between 3-60 seconds to complete so any discomfort felt is short lived.
Who is suitable for treatment?

Cryotherapy is safe for most people. Your nurse will carry out a full medical consultation to ensure you are suitable.

You may not be suitable for Cyrotherapy treatment if:

- You have a condition known as Reynaud's disease
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding
- You are undergoing investigations or treatment for melanoma
- You suffer with keloid scarring
